With Westworld‘s release, HBO had its biggest show opener since True Detective, three years prior. This futuristic show brings us questions of consciousness, morality/ethics and other crucial themes we may very face in years to come. For all those Westworld fans out there, be patient just a little while longer. The second season is making its return shortly.
The Story Of Westworld
In the future the show portrays, there’s an amusement park called Westworld. The park is inhabited by android hosts, which are essentially robots that appear identical to humans and can mimic human emotion. Guests of the park are allowed to act out every desire including murder and rape without worry of repercussions. Hosts are simply robots without inner emotions and understanding…or are they?
Westworld is based on a 1973 film that was written by a man named Michael Crichton. Now, Crichton’s work serves as the basis and main inspiration for the show. Also, the famous J.J. Abrams is one of the producers for HBO show.
Cast Of Westworld
Westworld is loaded with an impressively talented cast. From the star Evan Rachel Wood to Thandie Newton, James Marsden, Jeffrey Wright, Jimmi Simpson, Ben Barnes and of course, Oscar-winner Anthony Hopkins and the famous Ed Harris, there’s no shortage of brilliance. Luckily, most of this amazing cast will return in the second season. Finally, the fans will get a bit more on how actor Jimmi Simpson’s optimistic and brave character transforms into the infamous Man in Black. Oh and stars like Luke Hemsworth, Katja Herbers, Clifton Collins Jr. and Gustaf Skarsgård will be in the second season. So, the cast will be gaining even more great actors! Sounds promising! Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on whether Dr. Robert Ford (Anthony Hopkins) will be part of this season. Fingers crossed though!
Westworld Season Two
So attention all those who haven’t binged on season one of Westworld yet…it’s probably best not to read on. We want to get more into what we know about this upcoming season. Anyway, we also have to give fans some more good news. Apparently, the show runners already planned out five full seasons of the show, so it looks like we’ll enjoy this amazing series for a while. Westworld finished filming season two in January and the premiere date of Westworld‘s second season is April 22, 2018. Please, mark your calendars! Based on the two trailers, this season will be epic. Obviously, we can see from these trailers that Incorporated is attempting to contain the host breakout. During the trailer, Dolores says, “We built this world together, this world where dreams come true. We can burn it to the ground. From the ashes, build a new world. Our world.”
So, we know that that means…the robots are trying to overtake Westworld and rebuild as they see fit. Will they succeed or not? Only time can tell. Tune in April 22 and if you haven’t already, watch the trailer below.
