Of course, we all know Tina Fey got her big break on SNL, but since then, there’s been no stopping this hilarious and talented woman! Writer, comedian, producer, her credits go on and on. We couldn’t possibly cover all of her successes, but we’ll give you a short overview of some highlights. However, we can recommend her memoir Bossypants for a more in-depth look into her life and how she got her start in the industry.
Tina Fey’s 30 Rock
As a dedicated fan, we have to talk about Tina Fey’s hit show 30 Rock! Back while she was still the head writer for SNL she signed on to develop her own show parodying her role as head writer. 30 Rock was named after the address of the building where SNL was written and performed at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in NYC. It revolved around Tina Fey’s character Liz Lemon working with ridiculous but lovable characters, portrayed by Alec Baldwin, Jane Krakowski, Tracy Morgan, Jack McBrayer and Judah Friedlander, among others. During the series, the show was nominated for a total of 103 Primetime Emmys! Luckily, there are seven seasons to binge and rewatch at your leisure.
A Tina Fey Cult Favorite: Mean Girls
Another hysterical project that Tina Fey will always be remembered for is the hit film Mean Girls. She was a screenwriter for the movie and starred as Ms. Norbury alongside Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert. Perhaps, the most quotable movie of all time and definitely, of the early 2000’s, we are ecstatic that Tina Fey is bringing an adaption of Mean Girls to the stage! Fey wrote a musical book with her husband, Jeff Richmond, and lyricist Nell Benjamin for the Broadway show that will be released in the spring 2018.
Tina Fey Continues Streak With Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Besides starring in countless films, Fey also decided to embark on another show once 30 Rock was behind her. Maybe you’ve seen or heard of her hilarious Netflix show called Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt starring Ellie Kemper. Anyway, this Netflix show was set for two seasons, but as of June 2017 was already renewed for a fourth season! Well, the show has a bit of a bizarre backstory in which Kimmy lived in captivity for 15 years as part of a cult. However, the plotline revolves around Kimmy adjusting to life in New York alongside quirky new friends. Of course, as with anything Tina touches, the show has been nominated for 16 Emmys already. If you haven’t yet watched this hysterical Netflix show, we cannot recommend it enough!
